The pain's gone, but the physical reconstruction is slow. I am glad you liked the reading list, which was not of my making. I was very happy just to take my family's recommendations. There is just one book lying there that I haven't picked up - Wilkie Collins's Woman in White. I read the Moonstone years ago and enjoyed it, but for some reason this one keeps going to the bottom of the pile.

I didn't know about the op — I hope it all went very well indeed and that you are now speeding along the road to recovery. Thank you for taking the time to recount your reading along the way. I find I now need to order several books from that list, some of which may even be as crisply well-written as your descriptions of them.

Not so much pain now, but recovering from this is a bit of a long haul.
